I've recently started reading some books dealing with the lore of Warhammer 40k and am a little overwhelmed when shopping on Amazon. My recomendations would be the eisenhorn omnibus, or the gaunt's ghosts series. In the second book of Whilst I might have liked Ravenor a bit less if I were reading the book when it came out - it's very slightly lacking in closure - as the first third or so of an omnibus it's pretty damn good. The Founding follows the first steps of Following the journey of Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn (And later his apprentice, Gideon Ravenor), these novels seek to immerse you in the dark shadowy realms of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. In my case, I'd love to reread Dan Abnett's amazing work for that brand, including Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and the Gaunt's Ghosts novels–but I own them in omnibus print editions. Summary: My recommended novel for those interested in war games, shows like Band of Brothers, etc., The Founding is the beginning omnibus for the well known Gaunt's Ghosts series. Those bastards are just north of phone book sized. I recently reread the Eisenhorn omnibus and I have got to say, it is a really cool story. David and I have both had a hankering for Warhammer 40K inspired fiction of late. Prospero Burns is a work of fan fiction based upon the Warhammer 40,000 gaming universe. Dan Abnett's first Warhammer 40,000 trilogy centred around the activities of the Imperial Inqusition, Eisenhorn, by and large had a laser-sharp focus on the main character, but one of the more memorable supporting characters was Ravenor, Eisenhorn's apprentice. Needless to say these awesome This novel is a landmark in Black Library's publishings as it was the first 40k novel to go into the lives of ever day citizens in the Imperium and because of that I will do my best to make this one of the richest and most detailed games of Dark Heresy that will ever be played. Despite being fragmented, the 'Warhammer 40000'–based novel 'Prospero Burns' takes the Space Wolves to a new high. Into the 40k universe since the mid 90′s) and i love abnett's writing, i do recommend starting with his work for anyone looking to take a step into the 40k universe. Set within the timeline of Dan Abnett's mostly excellent Eisenhorn omnibus, which is one of the classics of Black Library fiction and a very good introductory set of novels to get your feet with the Warhammer 40,000 setting.
